Writer's Block

I've been a photography lull recently. It's essentially equivelent to writer's block for photography. Is there a name for this? I apologize for the lack of posts. I've felt uninspired. But the good news is this! My trip to the beach has helped me find my inspiration once again. I got some beautiful shots yesterday of my son and the animals around us at the beach! I will post more once I get home, but I wanted to share a few now.

I can't tell you how impossibly hard catching these birds in flight is! I thought it would be easy because they don't fly all that fast. Or so I thought. This took a lot of patience, a steady hand, and lots of misses!

Seagulls can be so annoying, but I just love them! There's something soothing about watching them walk the beach looking for food.

This is not my favorite of the set of shots I did trying to capture Brandon in front of the ocean, but I do like it. He looks like he's leading the orchestra of the ocean. Notice the focus is clear on Brandon and less on the ocean, to focus on the subject, which is Brandon. This was one of the skills I was working on that day. To accomplish this, I would set the shot in my screen, move the camera down to focus on Brandon, once set, move the camera back to the shot and snap it! That made no sense, did it? Model: Brandon

This is an example of another skill I was working on that day. I have learned the best way to teach myself photography is to step outside of my comfort zone. In other words, trying taking shots in a different way that usual. I usual center everything and zoom in close. That day I tried taking shots from farther back and tried capturing things off center. This one turned out great. I feel like it really captures the feeling of how small we are and how big the world around us really is. Model: Brandon

I hope you enjoyed the sneak peek into my beach pictures. I'd love to hear what you think! Also please let me know if the font is too small to read. I'm thinking I should make it larger. Thoughts?
