And I must say I'm so thankful for that decision! I had so much fun taking photos! I must shout from the rooftops, THANK YOU LISA! Oh, the inspiration B&W Wednesdays gave me!
The world looks so different in black and white. Broken down to the core, you find emotion in things you don't expect. Like a tree or a creek. I was looking at the world differently and finding photo opportunities that I normally don't see. It was simply an awesome experience.
I am very grateful.
So below is a combo entry for B&W Wednesday and You Capture (as well as Wordish Wednesday) . The theme Beth chose for You Capture this week is Technology.
I'll be honest. I wasn't feeling very inspired by this topic at first. I tried pictures of my cellphone, the new tv, the computer. Nothing felt right. Until the inspiration from B&W came in. Suddenly, technology looked more interesting.
Then I remembered a piece of technology I use almost everyday for a math class I'm taking. A calculator! And this is no ordinary calculator! This thing is a portable computer! USB ports, applications to download. And I thought the TI-82 I had in high school was complex. This frustrating piece of technology, once figured out, makes my life easier. Which is the whole point of technology, right?
Thank goodness for this little piece of technology. AND for my wonderful friend Amy for letting me borrow it for the class!
I share this, just because I like the lighting. :)
And lastly,
Where would I be without this technology? While I want to upgrade, this camera has been so good to me and helped me capture some wonderful memories :)
Check out some more great technology and/or black and white photography and/or blogs at these sites!
Thanks for stopping by! Leave me some comments and feedback. I'm always ready for some advice on improving my photography! Let me know how you think I can make these pictures even better!!
And on a final note, thank you again to Lisa at The Long Road to China and Beth at I Should Be Folding Laundry for the inspiration this week.

Oh my goodness. That calculator looks like a complicated contraption! I used the same kind you did in high school! I remember that I could never figure out all of the buttons! My son is having SO many issues in math class right now.
ReplyDeleteHave a happy week Nikki! Great job capturing your calculator in black and white.
So very happy that I am done with math classwork (until my kiddos are older). Great pics! My favorite is the second. So much "everyday" is captured.
ReplyDeletehehe.....I remember nearly having a heart attack in college when I found out I needed to buy an $80 CALCULATOR?!?!?!?! Ironically, it had more memory and power than my first computer...lol
ReplyDeleteWow calculators sure have changed since I used them in college. It's making me feel real old now! :-) Love your photos. You're doing a great job with b&w.
ReplyDeleteHoly Cow- that is a fancy calculator. Definitely "techy" if you ask me.
ReplyDeleteWow! What a fancy calculator! What did we used to do without technology?! And google?! LOL!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the B&W spin on technology! (Found you on you capture btw). I am in love with the shot of your camera. Great photos!
ReplyDeleteYou are so right - great idea to convert over to B&W :D
ReplyDeleteI loved my calculator in college and high school... kind of feel lost without it!! But I know I used it alot b/c my mental math abilities are shot!!
